Great catalogue for Tasmanian Magic Millions Yearling Sale

Wednesday, February 08, 2017

NEXT week’s Tasmanian Magic Millions Yearling sale at the Inveresk Showground in Launceston promises to be as good if not better than last year’s record breaking sale.

The sale will comprise 133 lots with 49 stallions represented which is an amazing number considering the amount of lots to go under the hammer.

One youngster sure to catch the  eye upon inspection is a colt by Needs Further from the Savoire Vivre mare Phyl’s Choice (Lot 129).

Needs Further’s first crop are two-year-olds and his success at stud is already proven with Pateena Arena winning the $100,000 Listed Elwick Stakes last Sunday and another by the sire, Il Regalo, has won twice and will be very competitive in the next Listed race for two-year-olds, the $100,000 Gold Sovereign Stakes on Launceston Cup day.

Another likely to make an impact at the sale from Armidale are a colt by Needs Further from Grisbi (Lot 92) that produced Grisbi’s Run that has multiple wins for Victorian trainer John McArdle.

Grenville Stud will offer a full sister to Kenjorwood (Snippetson-Flying Diva) as Lot 85 that already has attracted mainland interest and the stud also will offer a half-brother to Hot Dipped (x Statue of Liberty from Galvanized).

For the lovers of stayers there are three yearlings by former Melbourne Cup winner Fiorente including Lot 102, a filly from staying mare Jennifer that was second (lost on protest) in a Tasmanian Oaks.

Armidale will also offer a half-sister to last season’s Hobart and Launceston cups winner Up Cups (Lot 5).

The Tasmanian Magic Millions Yearling Sale will be held at the Inveresk Showground in Launceston on February 16 with previews available from next Tuesday.
